Each month in "From the Hood" we bring you one of the sport's hottest-looking engine compartments. The section will highlight an engine that has been customized and hooked up with performance parts as well as cosmetic components. From The Hood will be broken down to include performance parts, pulleys and brackets, engine compartments, induction and ignition systems.
This month, we feature Jeremy Atkinson's "Eye Candy" '85 Oldsmobile Cutlass from Drop Mob C.C. of Lexington, Kentucky. This builder from the beautiful Blue Grass State (and land of moonshiners) was inspired to go all of the way and build a show performance engine after seeing a Cutlass with a swapped-out engine in Lowrider Magazine.
Good ol' boys Jeremy and Tim Taylor of Drop Mob Motorsports tore out the factory six-cylinder engine and swapped it with a Chevy 350 "crate" motor that would give "The General Lee" a run for its money. The block was smoothed out and hooked up with a candy finish to match the exterior of the vehicle. The engine was outfitted with high-performance parts, including a serpentine setup, and intake and carb combination. It was also dressed up with a custom set of machined valve covers that give it a true custom look.
Overall, this engine compartment represents Jeremy's "hood" well. It's tastefully hooked up and would make any lowrider proud.
