TechspecsDevil's ChariotOwner: Mike Lopez
Vehicle: '67 Chevrolet Impala
City/State: East Los Angeles, California
Club: Lifestyle C.C.
Engine/Drivetrain: The factory 283-c.i.d. engine hasn't been messed with and runs great, but did come with a factory air conditioning unit, a big plus for all of you OG diehards. The rearend has been shortened and is mated to a Powerglide transmission while a dual exhaust just about touches the ground when the fastback is laid out.
Body/Paint: Paul Baron at House of Lowriders did the '67 Chevy justice, as he made sure that the car's lines would be true and chose a two-stage paint. The color is Tuxedo Black, very rich in color and the gloss on it is just amazing.
Interior: Tony at Covina Auto Trim in Covina, California, stuck to the all-original theme by covering the seating and panels with black vinyl, as well as carpet panels for the doors and floorboards. The interior goodies are straight out of the past with a GM 8-track player and working color bar.
Sound System: Stock GM tunes are all that Mike needs when cruising the Devil's Chariot.
Setup: The hookup on the hydro system was installed by "Lil' Man" at House of Lowriders in Buena Park, California, where he used two Bosch pumps with Bosch blocks and OG slow-downs. Hydro-Aire dumps and 6-inch hoses have also been incorporated into the system. Elsewhere, 6-inch Red's cylinders up front and 8-inch strokes with 111/42-ton coils out back get the car even lower thanks to the C-notch job. The three-switch setup is wired to a series of four solenoids and four Sears Die-Hard batteries.
Tires: Rare 5.20 Premium Sportway
