The East Side of Houston, TX has been a hotbed of Lowrider culture since the 1970s, breeding several prominent Lowrider enthusiasts within the Lone Star State. One such enthusiast, Victor Jimenez, was born and raised in this community, and shares its affinity for lowriders to the fullest. After all, in the East Side of the Big H, lowriding is a way of life, and it was only a matter of time before this young man would heed the inevitable call of destiny to make his own mark on the sport. He paid his dues on the concrete, spending many memorable nights cruising the legendary Richmond Boulevard on Saturdays. Victor's Monte Carlo gained quite the attention out on the block at the time, as he could easily clear a respectable 20 inches with every hit of the switch. It was fun, but addicting at the same time, and this hop-a-holic wanted more.
Victor's love for the sport got him more into the hopping scene, and in '06, he purchased an '87 Cutlass, with the intention of building the ultimate hopping machine. He promptly customized the car, all at once having it painted and hooked up with 2 pumps. The frame of the G-Body gave up after a few months of hard hopping, so Victor put his Welding and Fabrication skills to the test,reinforcing the frame to withstand the rigorous stress it would receive while competing. It took him over 5 months to finish reinforcing the new frame, and during that process, he had the body and belly repainted with a metallic Blue base coat, and patterned out, using multiple shades of Blue. Victor keeps the Cutty all the way classic, so much so, that it's currently hopping on 520's, which is a rare sight in this day and age. The Hydraulic setup includes two pumps with 8-inch cylinders in the front, and 22 inch in the rear. The entire rig is assisted by Pro Hopper springs, and powered by 14 batteries. Victor's hard work paid off, and after putting the car together and rebuilding the new set up, this champion of a car now hits for over 80 inches consistently. When Victor sends the car skyward, the custom painted belly and chrome undercarriage is exposed for all to see, much to the delight of competition onlookers. Always ready for a battle, Victor keeps his Rig Welder by his side, just to make sure the competition keeps going.
